Originally from Carmel, Indiana, sophomore Elle Sullivan came to the University of Oregon for the wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. Last year, she was enrolled in the UO as a Robert D. Clark Honors College student majoring in journalism and marine biology. Elle’s passion for marine biology and nature grew as she explored Oregon’s forests, rivers and coastline, and she decided to work toward becoming a resident of Oregon. In doing so, Elle pays for her living expenses and tuition with minimal help from her parents, and struggles to make ends meet throughout the process of obtaining residency, working three jobs and taking classes at the UO and Lane Community College. Elle has become frustrated by how expensive it is for her to continue her education, but perseveres in order to become a resident in a place she loves.

Elle Sullivan works a part-time job at Noisette Pastry Kitchen to help pay for her tuition and living fees.
